New in 2007

Well that is another Christmas and New Year over and everybody here survived as well as could be expected. We all saw in the New Year at Charmaines and then crossed the street to Sandra & Jackies for their almost legendary Hogmanay party which coincides with Jackies birthday.
The Singstar marathon was eventually ended at about 4.30am and everybody went off to bed happy.
Heather is currently suffering from the virus that is laying so many people out and Max has some sort of stomach bug.

This year should be a good one starting with our three week trip to Barbados to visit our very good friends the Cummins. Max is really looking forward to seeing John again, it will have been almost 10 months since they were waved off at Edinburgh.

Any ideas what to do in Barbados for three weeks other than get a tan?

Cthulhu goes to Brugge

Just back from a short stay in the beautiful Belgian city of Bruge(Brugges).
The place is fantastic, a jewel of medieval architecture. Imagine any old vampire movie and you are in Bruge. We booked the holiday through Osprey Holidays and spent two nights on the ferry from Rosyth and three nights at The Hotel Jacobs. The ferry was really good with meals included in the package, the beer was cheap although the onboard entertainment was a bit Karen Dunbar club singer. The Hotel was nice, clean and comfy, and the buffet breakfast was really nice. The only thing that bugged me was the pillows seemed to be filled with marshmallow. Bruge itself is really nice and you felt very safe which is getting harder to do in British cities. We didn't see any of the usual stuff you get in cities over here like drunks and beggars. I would thoroughly recommend Der Schippel Bistro in Van Eyck square as an eatery and you should avoid the Itallian next to Pain E France, no starters and charged for sharing a pizza. The Narai Thai in Smeedenstratt is realy good as well.
I will definately go back and soon.

The Beginning

This is my first attempt at blogging and will probably go from coherent statements and personal opinions to totally irrational rants at something obscure and of no interest to anybody whatsoever.
I am currently living and working is East Scotland. My wife is in bed ill and my son is asleep, the dog is in the huff, probably because he ran into a tree tonight and I couldn't help but laugh.
My interests are wide and varied and sometimes fleeting. I like most music, good comedy and sci-fi, some really tacky sci-fi. I cycle, drive, play tennis and practice archery occasionally.
I think thats enough to be going on with so I will sign off for now and see what happens.
